Mill living, room by room

The original Mill

Bar Area

Once the heart of the working mill, this room still holds traces of its past – old stone walls and black beams giving way to a quiet corner made for slowing down. Pour something cold from the wine fridge, pull up a stool at the little bar table, or sink into the armchair with a book. However you spend the evening, it’s the kind of room that’s hard to leave.

for professionals

Kitchen

The kitchen is where the day tends to gather – light-filled and unhurried, with everything you need to cook properly rather than just get by. Gas and induction hobs, a Teppan Yaki plate, steam and conventional ovens, even a boiling water tap – whoever loves to cook will find nothing missing here. Pull up to the large table for a family meal, a board game, or a quiet coffee on your own, or fling open the bi-fold doors and let the evening carry on outside.

Cosy up in-front of the Fire

Fireside

Lounge

The lounge is where Gower stone and a beamed ceiling meet the kind of comfort that asks you to stay a while. Two sofas and two armchairs, dressed in cushions and throws, gather around the fire – the sort of room made for reading, board games, or doing absolutely nothing at all. On the walls, views of Rhossili Bay hint at what’s waiting just ten minutes down the road. When the evening calls for a film, the smart TV signs in to all the usual apps, or there’s a PS4 for anyone who’d rather play than watch.

Practicalities

Boots and Dog Rooms

Just inside the door, a generous boot room and utility area waits for muddy boots, wet coats, and sandy paws – exactly what you need after a day on the beach or the coastal path. With space to dry everything off, it’s the kind of practical room you don’t think about until you’re glad it’s there.

Right beside it, there is a dedicated dog room with its own stable-style split door, with dog bed and bowls ready and waiting – the perfect spot for your furry friend to rest after a day exploring the Gower.

Sleeping, room by room

ground floor

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is where the day properly ends — solid oak floors underfoot, a superking bed dressed for a good night’s sleep, and two sash windows plus a patio door that look straight out over the stream. Watch for rabbits, birds, and – if you’re lucky – a kingfisher passing by. The ensuite matches the room’s quiet indulgence: an Albion Torre Duo freestanding bath, deep enough to sink into, alongside a double shower, heated towel rail, and granite worktops.

Second Bedroom

The second bedroom is generously sized and family-ready, with the same solid oak floors and exposed Gower stone walls that run through the mill. Its sash windows open onto fields and dunes, and sunsets that are worth staying up for – don’t be surprised if a horse or a sheep wanders past on the lane below. Its own ensuite means everyone has their own space, without ever feeling far from the rest of the house.

Third Bedroom

The third bedroom is the airiest of the three – an open-plan space filled with light from four Velux windows, oak floors and exposed stone walls around you. It’s a room made for slow mornings and Sonos playlists, whether you’re reading, resting, or simply enjoying the quiet.

outdoors

1.5 acres, rugged and semi-wild

Home to local wildlife, a private stream, and space enough to find your own quiet corner.

Al-fresco dining

The patio

Dinner doesn’t have to stay indoors. Open the bi-fold doors and the kitchen spills straight out onto the patio, where a large table waits for long, unhurried evenings – good food, a bottle of something cold, and no reason to rush back inside.

Stream

Water through the garden

A private stream winds its way through the lower garden, tumbling gently over stones on its way through the grounds. It has a habit of becoming everyone’s favourite spot – children paddling in wellies, dogs wading in without a second thought, and adults happy just to sit nearby and listen.

seating

Somewhere new to sit

Across 1.5 acres of rugged grounds, there’s always somewhere new to sit. Head to the higher garden for a front-row seat to the sunset over the dunes, or find a quieter spot by the stream, where the only company is birdsong and the sound of moving water. However you like to spend an afternoon outside, Lower Mill has a corner for it.

Walk with your Furry Friend

Dogs

Space for furry paws

Dogs are more than welcome at Lower Mill. The securely enclosed garden, complete with its own stream and plenty of space to explore, is always a hit with our four-legged guests. After a day on the beach, the boot room keeps sandy paws and muddy boots neatly contained, while miles of dog-friendly coastline and spectacular coastal paths means every day brings a new adventure.

Children

Space for small explorers

Children and babies are very welcome at Lower Mill. We have a high chair, travel cot and stair gate available on request. Please be aware that there is a stream and pond within the grounds and the fence at the back of the house is low so children do need to be supervised in the grounds.
